The first step is to calculate the total wall area where putty will be applied.

Formula:

Wall Area = Height × Width

Example:

Wall Area = 10 × 12
Wall Area = 120 sq ft

If you have multiple walls, calculate the area of each wall and add them together to get the total surface area.


2. Understand Wall Putty Coverage

The quantity of putty mainly depends on surface smoothness and number of coats.

Typical coverage:

  • Two coats: about 12–16 sq ft per kg

  • Three coats: about 8–12 sq ft per kg

If the plaster surface is smooth, less putty is needed. Rough walls require more material.
